Our Story

Two strangers Nital, born and brought-up in Penang, Malaysia, and Amit, born and brought-up in Gujarat, India, meets up during Nital's US visit through family friends.

They grew up in separate worlds and with many different characteristics and passion but with similarity in values, ambition and creativity. They continue hanging out together during Nital's NYC visit for almost two months.

The first date

Hum: What a boring formal shirt!

Tum: Did she not have anything better to wear?

So begins the first episode of "Hum-Tum".

Hum-Tum continues to explore places in New York, New Jersey and DC region. (NOTE: Don't try to count hours, and number of restaurants!). They have disputes over which places to visit, what movie to watch, etc. but they continue to respect each other as individuals.

                      

After spending considerable time together, they became good friends from total strangers in an unimaginable short frame of time. Time just flew by, so Hum decided to extend her stay in cloud nine to spend more time with Tum.Which meat more trips to NYC.

Before they realized where things were going, one thing lead to another. Despite their individual approaches and arguments, they decided to spend the rest of their lives together. Only later did Tum realize that this meant losing his liberty, his cosy room(Hum’s definition of a messy room) and his beloved food options. Ironically this realization came with a trip to the Statue of Liberty! Confused with this realisation, Tum managed to convince Hum not to visit the Statue, since he had already given his liberty to her. They settled to take pictures at a distance to mark the loss of their liberty.

Having found each other’s shadow, on the last week of Hum’s visit, Tum decided to surprise Hum. On a moon light night at the banks of Hudson River at Jersey City, with distant music from a cruise at the shore Tum proposed and made Hum cry like never before. (It wasn’t planned so, but the romantic night turned the unforeseen into reality. Stay tuned for the complicated story, of how Tum managed to get a ring on suddenly deciding to propose!)

  

This marks the end of the first episode. The second episode took place in India where Hum and Tum’s families met and decided to formalize the relationship by having a typical Guajarati engagement ceremony.
